Rotating Electrode Unit

Rotating electrode unit consisting of

  • Rotating unit (0-4000 U/min), continuously adjustable
  • Speed controller (0-4000 U/min), continuously adjustable), 7” Touch-Display
  • Electrodes (various materials possible)
  • Measuring cell

The rotating electrode unit is used to examine end products and semi-finished products of electrochemical reactions.

The rotating electrode system is part of our portfolio for more than 30 years. The system consists of a rotating unit and a speed controller. Electrochemical cells and electrodes are also available in various designs. We supply cylinder, disc, and ring disc electrodes in various sizes and with different insulating bodies. Custom-made electrodes and devices are also available.

A mercury slip ring is intentionally used in the rotating electrode unit. Compared to mechanical slip rings, it enables significantly lower-noise signal transmission. Especially in sensitive electrochemical measurements, stable and low-noise signal quality is crucial for evaluating the results.

The mercury slip ring limits the maximum rotational speed to approximately 4,000 rpm. However, this speed is entirely sufficient for the vast majority of electrochemical applications. The focus is deliberately on measurement quality and signal stability rather than on maximum rotational speed.

In many applications, a high rotational speed is not the decisive factor. What is more important is a reproducible and low-noise measurement. The choice of current transducer ensures that signal quality remains constant even during demanding measurements.

The slip ring used is not covered by Annex II of the EU Mercury Regulation. The necessary evidence and documentation can be provided for export and customs clearance.

The rotating electrode unit can be returned to us at the end of its service life. We will ensure the proper disposal of the slip ring it contains, as well as the other components.
